Sustainable Tourism Training
The GSTC establishes and manages global sustainable standards, known as the GSTC Criteria. There are two sets: Destination Criteria for public policy-makers and destination managers, and Industry Criteria for hotels and tour operators. These are the guiding principles and minimum requirements that any tourism business or destination should aspire to reach in order to protect and sustain the world’s natural and cultural resources, while ensuring tourism meets its potential as a tool for conservation and poverty alleviation.
By completing this training, participants will get a 'Certificate of Completion'. They will then be eligible to take the exam to earn the GSTC Certificate in Sustainable Tourism, which is offered in an online and open-book format and available for one month following the date of training class completion. Those who achieve a 75% pass mark on the STTP Exam will receive a GSTC Certificate in Sustainable Tourism. This Certificate is for individuals who have demonstrated the required level of knowledge, and is not equivalent to or in any way related to a business or a destination becoming certified by a GSTC-Accredited certifying body.
Please note that the exam fee (US$75 per person) is not included in the above training class registration fee. For more information, please see this FAQs section.
